Since the Ames Bros Coby Schultz and Bary Ament crawled out of the dust bowls of Montana and moved to Seattle they have been at the heart of the graphic art scene surrounding the music industry. First spotted for their work with Pearl Jam they have been Grammy nomionated twice for their work on Yield and Vitalogy and gone on to work with some of music's greatest stars. Not many could claim a back catalogue which included work with Sting, Radiohead, Snoop Dogg, Coldplay, The Foo Fighters and many more. Fewer still could add to that advertising campaigns for MTV, the NBA, Nike, EA Sports, Sony, NIssan, Honda, K2, Ride .... the list goes on.
Even fewer still could combine this commercial success with the critical acclaim which comes with being featured in Taschen's 'Graphic Design for the 21st Century: 100 of the World's Best Designers' and a 10 page spread in 'The Art of Modern Rock.' So what did they do next? What else but start a streetwear label designing the best graphic t shirts and urban wear for the legions of fans old and new. Street wear is littered with short term tee stars but these guys have been dragging inspiration from their unconciousness for 15 years and counting so it is no wonder they just continue coming up with the goods. So if you like your urban streetwear cool, considered and uniquely signatured then stick with Ames Bros, as they say 'the gear that grew with the Great Northwest.'
